*This review may contain spoilers*
I have followed this series of games since it appered on the PS1 back in 1996/7 back then known as SoulEdge or SoulBlade depending where you bought it. over the year it has changed drastically now on multi-platform with version of the Soul Calibur games avalible on Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and (for origanl Soul Calibur game) Sega. Soul Calibur IV is the first next gen outing for the series and what follows is my review of the PS3 Version. Having bought this game today and played it some thought i would reveiw it.
STORY
As with all Soul Calibur games it is set at some random point in a stage of history but going on all the clothing and weapons i would call it mid 1600’s (I’am not an historian so don’t qoute me on that lol). Although there have been previous incarnations of this game the story in SC2 being fairly rubbish and the SC3 story being Exclusive to PS2 which pulled it out a rutt. but Soul Calibur IV has a really good story it revoles around 2 or 3 characters really Siegfried who fights the good fight, Nightmare fights the bad fight and Cervantes who poccessed the blade in the origanl game and is now no longer ageing and is hungry for the power. This story goes right back to the origanl game on PS1 when Siegfried grabbed the evil Soul Edge Blade (After defeating Cervantes/Souledge) a power overwhelmed him and in SC and SC2 he assumed the form of Nightmare and fought the bad fight but in SC3 Siegfried mangaed to free himself from the evil blades power and is now trying to stop others from accquireing the sword for thier own ends and vows to end the swords reign of evil. All the characters in the games also have stroies but like in tekken (Another Great Namco Fighting Game) they are there purely for depth of the other characters and shows what would happen if they gained the blades of power but more than anything else it revolves round the 3 characters i mentioned before.
